Stained Glass Windows: The Rooms with a View
Jesse Shepard: The Man, the Myth, the Homeowner
Ghost Stories: Stories About Ghosts

The Teen Advisory Council (TAC) began in the Fall of 2007. Comprised of eight teenagers, representing seven different high schools, the TAC was formed to give teenagers a voice at the San Diego Historical Society. As Council members we learn and discuss San Diego history through our involvement in the San Diego Museum of History. We talk to experts and get behind the scenes access to the museum itself. We critique and discuss exhibits from our own museums as well as other museums in Balboa Park. We take tours of historical sights and delve into San Diegoís past. We volunteer our time to help share the rich and diverse history of our communities with others.

After learning that one of San Diegoís treasures is currently closed for repairs, the Villa Montezuma, we decided to focus our annual project on this 19th century Victorian mansion in Sherman Heights. We took a tour of the historic neighborhood, met with experts on the homeís history, searched through photographs and newspaper articles, and then spent many hours doing archival research in order to create our own online exhibit about this unique home. We each decided to focus on what interested us the most: the original owner, the dramatic windows, and the haunting stories.

We did the research, we wrote the articles and we chose the photos. We are influencing history.
