Costume Council

Since 1928, the San Diego History Center has been preserving San Diego's treasures and its stories.  As a member, you can support the vital work of one of California's oldest and largest historical organizations. Join our family of supporters today!

With over 7,000 items in our Costume Collection, the collection illustrates the history of dress from the late 18th century to the present. Items in the collection include clothing for men, women and children, and fashion accessories. Our collection is considered one of the most significant in the U.S.

Founded in 1989, the Costume Council supports the preservation of our Costume Collection through this unique membership opportunity as well as through special fashion events throughout the year.
