Introduction to Historical Research

The Library is home to our extensive collections that document the people, places and stories of San Diego’s past. The region's history can be accessed through books, ephemera, original maps, manuscripts, architectural drawings, public records, and our extensive photographic collection.

Students receive an introduction to the collections and an orientation on how to use the Library by San Diego History Center archivists. For groups working on specific projects, archivists assist students with accessing appropriate resources in the Library by pre-selecting relevant materials prior to the visit and by being available to guide students during their research visit.
