George (jean) Annette Rittenhouse
b. Pennsylvania September 1, 1871
d. San Diego, California (found dead August 30, 1953)
Specializing in portraits, Jean studied in New York with the portrait painter Wayman Adams. She is first listed in San Diego in 1915, and may have come here as a result of the Panama California Exposition. Settling in Ocean Beach, she seems to have been as interested in real estate as she was in art. A member of the San Diego Art Guild, she frequently exhibited with the group in the 1930s and 1940s. jean also joined the Contemporary Artists of San Diego as a patron member. For a time, she occupied a studio in the Spanish Village in Balboa Park.
