Alice Hulick Preston Lavallee*
(Mrs. George Preston, later Mrs. James H. Lavallee)

b. Newton, Kansas February 18, 1896
d. ? (still residing in San Diego in 1981)

Alice Hulick was graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1919. Moving to San Diego in 1922, she married George Preston two years later. A member of numerous local art organizations including the San Diego Art Guild, she exhibited frequently in the 1930s and 1940s. She was also a member of the National League of American Penwomen, from whom she received first honorable mention for her Girl in Black when it was exhibited in Washington, D.C., in 1932. After the death of George Preston in 1951, Alice married James H. Lavallee, an amateur sculptor, in 1955.
