Book Notes

Western Americana in the California State Library.

Edited by Gary E. Strong and Gary F. Kurutz. Sacramento: California State Library Foundation, 1985. Illustrations. 44 Pages. $6.95 Paperback.

The California State Library's Western Americana collection has been a building since 1850 and now includes books, periodicals, journals, newspapers, maps, photographs, manuscripts, ephemera and special files and indexes. This publication is meant to be a comprehensive guide to the collections. It includes descriptions of the collections and some lists of major items. Western Americana is certainly the starting place for a visit to or research in the California State Library.
