Book Notes

Oral History Collection on the Performing Arts.

Dallas: Southern Methodist University, 1984. Index. 71 Pages.

The oral history at the DeGolyer Institute for American Studies at Southern Methodist University contains a large number of interviews with major figures in the performing arts - actors, directors, conductors, singers, etc. The guide describes the individual collections, giving terms of use, date of interviews and a brief indication of the contents. Because of the large number of entertainment figures who have San Diego area connections, local historians should take note of these interviews. For example, there are lengthy interviews with Gregory Peck who talks about La Jolla and especially his experiences with the La Jolla Playhouse. A copy of the guide is available for consultation at the San Diego Historical Society Research Archives.
