Page 42. A membership leaflet for the Woman's Home Association, 1901. The organization was formed in 1887 to care for indigent, unfortunate, aged or helpless women.


Dr. Charlotte Baker  
Page 45. The women who organized the Woman's Home Association were from diverse backgrounds. Some, like Dr. Charlotte Baker, were professionals.


Kate Sessions  
Page 46. Kate Sessions, San Diego's well-known horticulturist, directed a Flower Festival for the Woman's Home Association in 1888. The event proved successful and helped supply the Association with additional funding.
