Dirt roads and a sea of
newly finished or nearly finished houses
were characteristic of Linda Vista
during 1941-42.

Construction on the Linda Vista
housing project began
on March 5, 1941.
Due to the urgent need for homes
and a short building period,
the contractors adopted
mass production methods.

Although quickly built,
Linda Vista was carefully planned.
Many homes were placed on the
gently rolling topography
to take advantage of natural vistas.

such as a lack of landscaping

shopping center, which
has recently been rebuilt.
