Page 20. Maurice Braun at his easel in 1915. Braun, who is best known for his landscapes, was born in Hungary and came to the United States as a child with his parents in the early 1880's. The artist later made his home in San Diego.


 
Page 23. Maurice Braun, as a student in the class of 1899 at The National Academy of Design in New York, is pictured third from the right in the second row. The instructor of the painting class was Edgar M. Ward, seated in the front row, extreme left.


 
Page 24. Life classes were a part of the academic program for upcoming artists at The National Academy. Thunder Cloud was a model for the 1899 class attended by Braun who is seen second row from the back, the second person from the left.
