PART II - PEOPLE IN OLD TOWN
FOUR PUEBLO FAMILIES

BANDINI | ESTUDILLO | MACHADO-SILVAS | MACHADO-STEWART

INTRODUCTION

The following articles deal with the histories of four famous Spanish-Mexican families and their adobe homes. These homes are located within the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park and can be seen in 1969.

Observe the supplementary presentations on the Machado family. One deals with the Machado-Silvas branch of the family and the other deals with the Machado-Stewart branch. This gives us a broader coverage of this family, whose two homes are included among the four adobe structures located within the present boundaries of the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park.

In acquiring the material we have been assisted once again by Orion M. Zink, and also by Sister Catherine McShane, of the University of San Diego College for Women, and by two of her students, Miss Patricia Baker and Miss Rosemary Masterson, who lent to us for publication in this issue of the Journal of San Diego History, material which they had compiled in connection with a genealogy study of early families of the San Diego area.

The articles appearing in this issue of the Journal of San Diego History have been abridged, due to space requirements. The full articles, plus footnotes, are on file in Junipero Serra Museum Research Library.
