Current Opportunities
Archival Interns
Archival Interns work closely with Research Library staff to process our vast archival collections. Duties include processing manuscript collections and creating finding aids. Training is provided. Intern must be either a recent college graduate or a current graduate student in history, library science, or a related field. Internships are unpaid. College credit is available. Interns must commit to at least 8 hours per week between the hours of 9 am- 4 pm Tuesday-Saturday.
Collections Interns
Collections Interns work closely with the Registrar and Assistant Registrar to process our vast collections. Duties include data entry and cataloguing artifacts. Training is provided. Intern must be a current graduate or undergraduate university student studying history, anthropology, or a related field. Internships are unpaid. Interns must commit to at least 8 hours per week between the hours of 9 am- 5 pm Monday-Friday.
Photograph Archive Interns
Photograph Interns work closely with Photograph Archives staff to process our vast photograph collections. Duties include processing collections and creating finding aids. Training is provided. Intern must be either a recent college graduate or a current graduate student in history, library science, photography, or a related field. Internships are unpaid. College credit is available. Interns must commit to at least 8 hours per week between the hours of 9 am – 4 pm Tuesday-Saturday.
Graphic Design Internship
The Graphic Design Intern will work closely with the Society’s Graphic Designer on a number of projects related to exhibits and promotional publications. The intern must be a college student currently studying graphic design. The internship is unpaid. College credit is available. Intern must commit to at least 8 hours per week between the hours of 9 am- 5 pm Monday, Wednesday, or Friday.
Marketing Intern
The Marketing Intern will work closely with our Marketing Coordinator on various projects related to the promotion of the Society’s events and exhibitions. Intern must be a currently enrolled college student studying marketing, public relations, or a related field. The internship is unpaid. College credit is available. Intern must commit to at least 8 hours per week, generally between the hours of 9 am- 5 pm Monday-Friday. May involve some weekend or after-hours work.
Exhibits Internship
The Exhibits Intern will work closely with the exhibits team on construction, assembly, and/or decorative aspects of our exhibits at the Museum of San Diego History. Duties may be catered to the student’s academic needs. The intern must be a college student currently studying design, art, sculpture, museum studies, or a related field. Intern must commit to at least 8 hours per week between the hours of 9 am- 5 pm Monday - Friday.
High School Exhibits Internship
The intern will work closely with Director of Exhibits on various projects related to exhibits. Intern must be a high school student. The internship is unpaid. Intern must commit to 8 hours per week between the hours of 9 am - 5 pm Tuesday and Thursday.
