Balboa Park | Coronado | Waterfront | Downtown | The County

Some Like it Hot A resort town with a large military component, Coronado has attracted filmmakers since 1898. The Hotel del Coronado, a massive turn-of-the-century resort, has been host to presidents, heads of state, and a slew of movie production companies. Rudolph Valentino, Gloria Swanson, Marilyn Monroe, Shirley MacLaine, and Peter O’Toole were among the many stars to film here. The hotel’s massive structure, bright red roof, and miles of beaches have provided a perfect backdrop in Some Like It Hot and more recently, The Stunt Man.
