CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Do you have something to share about underground culture in San Diego from 1960-2000?

The San Diego History Center, in the heart of Balboa Park, seeks proposals for I’m Not Like You: Notes from the San Diego Underground, a day of presentations and performances that explore and celebrate subcultures in the San Diego/Tijuana region from 1960-2000.

Proposals can take the form of papers, slide talks, short performances, or small-group discussions.

Possible topics:

  • Lowrider car clubs
  • Skate culture
  • Punk music
  • Zines and DIY/underground publishing
  • Alternative art & performance spaces
  • LGBTQ+ subcultures
  • Street art
  • Party crews and rave culture

 

Proposals should include a maximum 250-word abstract, a brief biography of the presenter/s, and contact details.

Deadline for proposals: March 16, 2019

Notification of acceptance and final schedule sent by April 1, 2019
