The Hotel Del Coronado celebrated its 100th birthday in a three-day long series of parties, balls, and receptions in February 1988. This gown was worn to these festivities by the donor, then vice chairman of the Del. The gown is a couture creation from the designer Valentino who featured a group of black and yellow gowns in that year's Fall/Winter collection.
