Lincoln Beachey in Curtiss Biplane
Lincoln Beachey was an early acrobatic stunt pilot. He claimed to have invented the outside loop, which he performed with other acts during 1914 in San Diego. The following year, while diving from 3,500 feet before spectators at the Panama-Pacific Exposition, the wing on his Glenn Martin monoplane collapsed and he died after crashing into San Francisco Bay.
