Volunteer Opportunities

Interviewer
Interviewers select, contact, research, and interview candidates. They also review the resulting transcription, help with editing and do follow-ups with interviewees. It is recommended that volunteer interviewers have prior oral history experience or go through one of the Historical Society’s oral history workshops before conducting interviews. We are also seeking bilingual interviewers.

Transcriber
Listen to tapes and transcribe interviews verbatim into a text format using professional transcription equipment and computers.

Editor/Indexer/Cataloger
Edit and review oral history transcriptions for accuracy and index and catalog the final transcription.

Digital Conversion Assistant
Assist in the digital conversion of analog dicta-belt and cassette oral history recordings.
