Biographical / Historical Notes

The Cleveland Pacific Mining Company was owned and operated by William F. Spieth and his son Lawrence C. Spieth of Cleveland, Ohio. The company operated the Oro Fino mine near Escondido, in 1901. It remained open until the early 1930s, but was dynamited shut due to the depression and the rising cost of operation.
