2012 FASHION REDUX! WINNER:  Osbaldo Ahumada and his Futuro 2080 ensemble!  Be sure to come back to the History Center in December 2012 when his work will be on view alongside the inspiration piece from the History Center's Costume Collection!

Join the Costume Council at San Diego History Center and students from The Fashion Program at San Diego Mesa College for a fabulously fashionable FINALE Party, as four finalists in our first-ever Fashion REdux! competition debut their designs for all to see.  Fashion REdux! is a fashion competition featuring Mesa College students who have created a modern garment or accessory inspired by one of three selected historical pieces from the permanent costume and textile collection at the San Diego History Center.  The evening includes a spirited reception with wine and hors d' ouvres, and an opportunity to meet the finalist designers and the judges including Mesa Fashion Program Instructors Andrea Marx, Susan Lazear, Diana Cavagnaro in addition to local designers Jennafer Grace, Kendall K, and Fashion Careers College instructor and Bad Madge & Company retail operator, Tanya McAnear.  Fashion Professor, Susan Lazear, will present an illustrated talk on the fashion trends of the 1880s, the history of the three inspiration pieces from the History Center’s collection used in the project, how these pieces inspire translation into modern garments, and the newly created contemporary pieces in the competition.  The evening will culminate with the selection of this year's 'winner' of the Fashion Redux! competition.

Tickets are just $10 and can be purchased by calling 619-232-6203, ext. 129 or by emailing gselak@sandiegohistory.org
